About
A working record of the music, film, television, games and books worth your attention — and the ones that aren't.
Est. 2026

Jason Steinberg is a working record of criticism across music, film, television, games, books and art. Every piece is scored out of one hundred on the same scale — not because those forms are the same, but because comparison across form is the whole point of paying attention.
The site is written and edited by Jason Steinberg. Nothing here is published in exchange for access, early copies or advertising. Covers, scores and sentences are filed as they stand — and left alone after.
What you will find is short, argued and dated. What you will not find is a roundup of things unread, a ranking designed to travel, or a score revised to match a consensus that arrived later.
Criticism is not a rating. It is an argument you can disagree with.
One scale, every medium
A record, a film and a game are scored the same way, out of one hundred. Comparison across form is the whole point.
The number is a promise
Scores are never revised to match a consensus that arrives later. What was published is what was thought.
No access, no favours
Nothing here is written in exchange for early copies, junkets or advertising. Everything is bought or borrowed.
